Whitehaven & Natural Island - Day Cruises

Here is the collection of popular cruises – whereby some may visit only natural islands for snorkelling – all of them visit the most natural of all beaches – Whitehaven Beach.
It is a good 2.5 to 3 hour return cruise to Whitehaven, so there are no “hourly ferries”. A full, 3/4 or 1/2 day found listed here will allow you to savour from at least 1.5hours on the beach and take you to another destination for snorkelling, coral viewing or scuba diving.
Whitehaven actually comes in 2 parts – the Southern end being the 7km long beach itself and the Northern end including the swirling sands effect of Hill Inlet complimented by a 20 minute walk up to Tongue Point Lookout overlooking the beautiful Hill Inlet and Whitehaven beach (often referred to as Hill Inlet Lookout).
There are only 4 boats that have special permits to visit the Hill Inlet lookout – so if this is what you want to see you will need to be specific (namely Mantaray, Ocean Rafting, Whitehaven Xpress and Cruise Whitsundays full day tour of “Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet & Lookout”.)
Whilst picturesque Whitehaven is famous for its 99% silica sand – a fine sand – like salt itself. Silica is a main component of glass. The sand experience, sometimes called the singing sands as it squeaks beneath your feet, is the same whether you are on a tour that visits either the North or South end of Whitehaven. However the greatest beauty of Whitehaven is that it is a National Park island with no man-made Hotels or Resorts on it – only a camping ground on the Southern end and surrounded by the “Great Barrier Reef Marine Park”. For this reason it is often included in many top 10 beaches in the World reports.
There is no coral in the Whitehaven Beach area so most boats will take you elsewhere for snorkelling and/or scuba diving – be it the northern side of Hook Island, Border Island or Haslewood Island all of these snorkelling destinations are well protected from prevailing southerly winds and are all reported as worthwhile snorkelling or scuba diving destinations.
Where these cruise boats go in one day under motor are the same destinations achieved in 2days/1night;2day/2night or 3day/2night overnight sailing under sail.
